भारतीय खाद्य सुरक्षा और मानक प्राधिकरण (FSSAI) ने सोमवार 2 दिसंबर को पैकेज्ड ड्रिंकिंग और मिनरल वाटर को ‘ हाई रिस्क खाद्य पदार्थ श्रेणी’ के रूप में शामिल किया है. जिसके बाद अब इनका अनिवार्य निरीक्षण और थर्ड पार्टी ऑडिट किया जाएगा. FSSAI द्वारा जारी किए गए नए नियम के मुताबिक अब सभी पैकेज्ड और मिनिरल वाटर निर्माताओं को सालाना निरीक्षण का सामना करना पड़ेगा. किसी भी कंपनियों को लाइसेंस या पंजीकृत करने से पहले ये निरीक्षण किया जाएगा.
यह घोषणा केंद्र सरकार द्वारा पैकेज्ड और मिनिरल वाटर उद्योग के लिए भारतीय मानक ब्यूरो (BIS) से प्रमाणन प्राप्त करने की अनिवार्य शर्त को हटाने के बाद की गई है. ये फैसला पैकेज्ड पानी और मिनरल वाटर कंपनियों को बड़ा झटका माना जा रहा है.

FSSAI के आदेश के मुताबिक पैकेज्ड के साथ ही हाई रिस्क वाले सभी खाद्य श्रेणियों के व्यवसायों को FSSAI द्वारा मान्यता प्राप्त थर्ड पार्टी खाद्य सुरक्षा एजेंसियों से सालाना ऑडिट कराना होगा. इस फैसले के पीछे सरकार का मकसद इन उत्पादों की सुरक्षा और गुणवत्ता मानकों में सुधार करना है, ताकि जो लोग इन चीजों का इस्तेमाल करते हैं उन्हें सुरक्षित चीज मिल सके और उनकी सेहत ठीक रहे.
