देवघर जिले के सारवां प्रखंड के जिया खरा पंचायत में जिया माता का मंदिर है जो पिछले कई सालों से बंद है. श्रद्धालु मंदिर के बाहर से ही पूजा कर लौट जाते हैं, क्योंकि मंदिर का गेट बंद रहता है. यह बड़ी संख्या में श्रद्धालु माता के दर्शन को आते हैं. हालांकि, मंदिर का गेट बंद होने के कारण उन्हें परेशानी जरूर होती है. उनकी मांग है कि मंदिर के गेट खोले जाए. लेकिन एक विवाद के कारण करीब छह सालों से मंदिर के द्वार बंद हैं.मंदिर को लेकर कई मान्यताएं हैं. यहां पूजा के साथ-साथ हर साल जिया माता के नाम पर भव्य मेला भी लगता है. मकर संक्रांति के समय इस मेले का आयोजन होता है.
स्थानीय लोग बताते हैं कि यह मेला करीब 60-70 सालों से लग रहा है. इस मेले का आयोजन जिला प्रशासन द्वारा किया जाता है. वहीं इस मंदिर के बारे में स्थानीय लोगों का कहना है कि जिया माता मंदिर का इतिहास काफी पुराना है. मैकफर्सन सेटलमेंट और गेंगर सेटलमेंट के भू-सर्वेक्षण में भी जिया माता मंदिर को दर्शाया गया है. संथाल परगना में इस मंदिर का सैकड़ों साल पुराना इतिहास है. इसके बावजूद आज श्रद्धालुओं को बाहर से ही माता का दर्शन करना पड़ता है.
मंदिर में कार्यरत पुजारी महावीर महतो और झकसू यादव का कहना है कि गांव का दामोदर महतो नामक व्यक्ति मंदिर पर कब्जा करने का प्रयास कर रहा है. इसका पूरे गांव के लोग विरोध कर रहे हैं. ग्रामीणों के विरोध को देखते हुए जिला प्रशासन ने मौखिक आदेश देकर वर्ष 2018 में इस मंदिर को बंद करा दिया था. 
ग्रामीणों ने मंदिर को सार्वजनिक करने के लिए न्यायालय का सहारा लिया है और फर्जी कागजात बनाने वाले और उसकी मदद करने वालों के खिलाफ मामला दर्ज कराया है. इसलिए पिछले कई वर्षों से मंदिर पर ताला लगा हुआ है. श्रद्धालु मंदिर के बाहर से ही जिया माता की पूजा करने को मजबूर हैं.मंदिर में पूजा करने आई श्रद्धालु चंदना झा ने बताया कि मंदिर नहीं खुलने से उन्हें काफी दुख है. क्योंकि परंपराओं के अनुसार जिया माता के शृंगार के बाद ही किसी भी तरह की पूजा या संस्कार का आयोजन किया जाता है. लेकिन मंदिर में ताला बंद रहने के कारण लोग माता रानी का शृंगार नहीं कर पाए हैं. इस बात का उन्हें काफी दुख है.
वह अपने परिवार के बच्चों का मुंडन कराने के लिए मंदिर आई थीं, लेकिन मंदिर नहीं खुलने के कारण उन्हें बाहर से ही पूजा कर वापस लौटना पड़ रहा है.वहीं पूजा करने आईं श्रद्धालु सुधा देवी और वंदना मिश्रा ने बताया कि इस मंदिर में दूर-दराज के क्षेत्रों से लोग पूजा करने आते हैं, लेकिन आपसी द्वेष और राजनीति के कारण कई जिलों और राज्यों के श्रद्धालुओं को परेशानी का सामना करना पड़ रहा है. जरूरत है कि जिला प्रशासन इसे गंभीरता से ले और जल्द से जल्द मंदिर का ताला खोले, ताकि सभी श्रद्धालु सही तरीके से पूजा कर सकें.
वहीं कई ग्रामीणों ने कहा कि अगर मंदिर खुला होता तो नियमित रूप से पूजा होती और प्रतिदिन सैकड़ों श्रद्धालु पहुंचते. मंदिर बंद होने के कारण श्रद्धालुओं की संख्या भी कम हो रही है. जिसका सीधा नुकसान पूरे गांव के लोगों को उठाना पड़ रहा

Deoghar: The Jiya Mata Temple, located in Jiya Khara Panchayat of Sarwan block in Deoghar district, has been closed for several years. Devotees visit the temple in large numbers, but they have to offer their prayers from outside since the temple gate remains shut. This situation has been causing inconvenience, and devotees have been demanding that the gates be reopened. However, due to a long-standing dispute, the temple has remained closed for nearly six years.
There are several beliefs associated with this temple. Along with regular worship, a grand fair is organized every year in honor of Jiya Mata. This fair takes place during Makar Sankranti and has been held for approximately 60-70 years. The district administration is responsible for organizing this event.
Local residents state that Jiya Mata Temple has a very old history. Records from the Macpherson Settlement and Gengar Settlement land surveys also mention the existence of this temple. The temple has a history dating back several centuries in the Santhal Pargana region. Despite its historical significance, devotees are now forced to offer prayers from outside.Reason Behind the Temple Closure
According to the temple priests, Mahavir Mahto and Jhaksu Yadav, a man from the village named Damodar Mahto has been trying to take control of the temple. The villagers are opposing this attempt. In response to the villagers' protest, the district administration verbally ordered the closure of the temple in 2018. To resolve the issue, the villagers have approached the court, seeking to declare the temple as public property. They have also filed a case against those involved in creating fake documents to claim ownership. As a result, the temple has remained locked for the past several years, leaving devotees with no choice but to worship from outside.Devotees Express Their Discontent
A devotee, Chandana Jha, expressed her sorrow over the temple's closure. She explained that, according to tradition, Jiya Mata must be adorned (Shringar) before performing any religious rituals or ceremonies. However, since the temple remains locked, the devotees cannot properly worship or perform rituals. She had come to the temple for her child's mundan (tonsure) ceremony, but due to the closure, she had to perform the prayers from outside and return disappointed.
Similarly, devotees Sudha Devi and Vandana Mishra stated that people travel from distant regions to worship at the temple. However, due to internal conflicts and political issues, devotees from various districts and states face difficulties. They urged the district administration to take immediate action and reopen the temple so that everyone can worship properly.
Several villagers also emphasized that if the temple were open, regular worship would take place, and hundreds of devotees would visit daily. The closure has led to a decline in the number of visitors, directly affecting the livelihood of many villagers. They believe that reopening the temple is crucial for both religious and economic reasons.
