जिले के मथुरापुर रेलवे स्टेशन से रेलवे को यात्री और माल भाड़ा से काफी आमदनी होती है। लेकिन रेल यात्रियों की बुनियादी सुविधाएं न के बराबर है। इसको लेकर स्थानीय लोगों ने ५ सूत्री मांगों के समर्थन में धरना दिया है।
लोगों ने मांग शीघ्र पूरी नहीं होने पर उग्र आंदोलन की चेतावनी दी है। बता दें कि मथुरापुर रेलवे स्टेशन दिल्ली हावड़ा मुख्य रेल मार्ग पर स्थित है। देवघर जिला अंतर्गत इस स्टेशन से रेलवे को यात्री और माल भाड़ा से पर्याप्त आमदनी होती है। लेकिन यात्रियों के लिए इस स्टेशन परिसर में शौचालय तो है लेकिन अभी तक चालू नहीं हो पाया है। इतना ही नहीं स्टेशन पर जगह जगह नल कनेक्शन भी है लेकिन पानी की आपूर्ति नहीं है।
अच्छी खासी आमदनी देने वाला इस स्टेशन से सुबह 7 से दोपहर 2 बजकर 45 मिनट में डाउन की तरफ एक भी ट्रेन नहीं है और सुबह 11 से शाम 7 बजकर 30 मिनट में अप लाइन में एक भी ट्रेन का परिचालन नहीं होने से स्थानीय लोगों को हाट बाजार, कोर्ट कचहरी, स्कूल कॉलेज आने जाने में काफी परेशानियों का सामना करना पड़ता है। ट्रेन का परिचालन नहीं होने से अपने अपने जेब के अनुसार स्थानीय लोग अपनी रोजमर्रा की जिंदगी का काम कर रहे हैं। पहले इस स्टेशन पर हावड़ा अमृतसर बनारस और सियालदह मुजफ्फरपुर जैसी ट्रेनों का ठहराव हुआ करता था लेकिन रेलवे द्वारा ट्रेन के ठहराव पर रोक लगा दी गई.
रेलवे को अच्छी खासी राजस्व देने वाला मथुरापुर स्टेशन पर टाटानगर से बक्सर चलने वाली एक्सप्रेस ट्रेन का ठहराव, सुबह 7 बजे से दोपहर 3 बजे के बीच 2 लोकल ट्रेन का ठहराव इस स्टेशन पर करने सहित 5 सूत्री मांगों के समर्थन में रेलवे के खिलाफ सोमवार को स्थानीय लोगों ने धरना दिया। सामाजिक कार्यकर्ता, पूर्व डीआरयूसीसी के सदस्य और भारतीय राष्ट्रीय फॉरवर्ड ब्लॉक के महासचिव जनार्दन पांडेय के नेतृत्व में धरना का कार्यक्रम आयोजित हुआ। सोमवार अहले सुबह से ही लोगों ने मथुरापुर स्टेशन के समीप धरना पर बैठ कर रेलवे प्रबंधन से अपनी मांगों के समर्थन में आवाज़ उठाई।
धरना प्रदर्शन करने वाले लोगों की अन्य मांगों में अर्जुन नगर हॉल्ट पर सभी लोकल ट्रेन का ठहराव तथा फुट ओवरब्रिज का निर्माण, मथुरापुर, अर्जुन नगर हॉल्ट एवं शंकरपुर स्टेशनों पर कम्प्यूटरीकृत टिकट बुकिंग काउंटर, पेयजलापूर्ति, प्रतीक्षालय एवं शौचालय की व्यवस्था सुनिश्चित करने के अलावा मथुरापुर में लगभग सत्तर से अस्सी वर्षों से छोटे-मोटे दुकान चलाकर जी रहे लोगों को रेलवे विस्तारीकरण के कारण विस्थापित हुए परिवारों को पुनर्वास की व्यवस्था करने, ध्वस्त जमीन मकान के लिए प्रति परिवार को न्यूनतम दस लाख मुआवजा देने तथा विस्थापितों को दुकान की व्यवस्था कर वैकल्पिक व्यवस्था करने की मांग शामिल है। स्थानीय लोगों द्वारा अपनी मांगों का आवेदन आसनसोल रेल मंडल प्रबंधक के माध्यम से रेल मंत्री को भेजा जाएगा। बहुत दिनों से स्थानीय लोगों द्वारा रेलवे से मांग की जाती आ रही है लेकिन रेलवे द्वारा कोई पहल नहीं की। स्थानीय लोगों की मानें तो यह अंतिम आवेदन है। अगर यात्रियों की मांगों को जल्द पूरा नहीं किया गया तो रेलवे प्रबंधन के खिलाफ उग्र आंदोलन किया जायेगा।
Protest Against Railway Management, Public Anger Erupts
Mathurapur railway station in the district generates significant revenue for the railways from passenger and freight services. However, the basic facilities for passengers are almost non-existent. In response, local residents staged a protest in support of their five-point demands, warning of an intense agitation if their demands are not met promptly.
It is noteworthy that Mathurapur railway station is situated on the Delhi-Howrah main rail route. The station, under the jurisdiction of Deoghar district, contributes substantial revenue from passenger and freight services. However, despite this, essential facilities remain inadequate. There are toilets in the station premises, but they are yet to be operational. Moreover, although there are several water taps, there is no water supply.
The station faces a significant issue with train operations. Between 7 AM and 2:45 PM, there is no train running towards the down line, and from 11 AM to 7:30 PM, there is no train on the up line. This causes considerable difficulties for locals traveling to markets, courts, schools, and colleges. The lack of train services has forced locals to manage their daily routines based on their financial capacity. Previously, prominent trains such as Howrah-Amritsar, Banaras, and Sealdah-Muzaffarpur had stoppages at this station, but the railway has now discontinued them.
On Monday, locals protested against the railway management with demands, including the halt of the Tata-Buxar Express at Mathurapur station, the introduction of two local trains between 7 AM and 3 PM, and other issues. The protest was led by social activist Janardan Pandey, a former DRUCC member and General Secretary of the Indian National Forward Bloc. Residents gathered near Mathurapur station early Monday morning to voice their concerns.
Their additional demands include halts for all local trains at Arjun Nagar Halt, the construction of a foot overbridge, computerized ticket booking counters, proper water supply, waiting rooms, and toilet facilities at Mathurapur, Arjun Nagar Halt, and Shankarpur stations. They also called for the rehabilitation of families displaced due to railway expansion, providing at least ₹1 million compensation per family for demolished land and houses, and ensuring alternative arrangements for displaced shopkeepers.
The residents plan to send their list of demands to the Railway Minister via the Asansol Rail Division Manager. Despite long-standing requests, the railway has made no efforts to address their concerns. According to locals, this is their final plea. If the demands are not met soon, they will launch a more aggressive protest against the railway management.
