Friday, April 4th was a Red Letter day for Loyola School. There were two memorable events happening in the school.
The first event was the highly anticipated 1st Fr. Cecil Leeming Volleyball Tournament in honour of our Reverend Founder Principal Fr. Cecil Leeming. This event was not merely a competition but a celebration of sportsmanship & teamwork.
The Chief Guest for the occasion was Fr. Charles Pareira,S.J., the former Provincial of Jamshedpur Province. He was also the Rector of Loyola School from 1987 to 1993. Along with him the other dignitaries present were Fr. K.M. Joseph, S.J., Rector, Loyola School, Fr Vinod Fernandes, S.J., Principal, Loyola School, Ms. Jayanthi Sheshadri, Vice-Principal, Senior Section, Loyola School, Alumni members and the coaches of 13 participating schools.
He was presented with a sapling by Fr. Vinod Fernandes, S.J. and honoured with a shawl by Fr. K.M. Joseph, S.J., following which Fr. Vinod Fernandes, S.J. delivered the welcome address. Fr. Charles Pareira, S.J., then addressed the audience and the tournament was declared open. The participants took the pledge to uphold the spirit of sportsmanship an fair play, which was led by Raj Nandini Rana, a promising athlete of Loyola School.
The second event was the Raising of NCC at Loyola.
Over the years, National Cadet Corps has helped students in shaping them into future leaders. It was indeed an exhilarating moment for Loyola School. Another feather added to its cap, the event being the NCC Raising Ceremony on 4th April, 2025.
This auspicious ceremony was graced by the presence of distinguished Commanding Officer of the Indian Army, Colonel Vinay Ahuja. Along with him, the other dignitaries present were ADM Col. Prem Chandra Jha, Sibedar Major Ravin Khandal and 3 Officers.
The soul-stirring official song of NCC set the tone for this inspiring event, following which, Col. Ahuja was welcomed by Fr. Vinod Fernandes, S.J., Principal, Loyola School and felicitated by Fr. K.M. Jospeh, S.J., Rector, Loyola School. Vice-Principal of Senior Section, Ms. Jayanthi Sheshadri, handed over a memento to Colonel Vinay Ahuja a as a mark of gratitude. Kripa Bhatia, a student of Loyola School spoke on the significance of NCC. This was followed by a brief presentation by GCI Ruchita Gautam. The NCC was officially declared open by our Chief Guest.
In his invigorating speech, Col. Ahuja encouraged the participation of students in various activities and respect for the values of the NCC. Fr. Principal also shared his valuable insights on this occasion. The other highlights were the opening of the NCC Office and the unveiling of the NCC Board near Gate No.1.
The event marked the beginning of a new chapter of unity, discipline, leadership and patriotism in young minds. This initiative is poised to have a positive impact on the all-round development of the students.
