41 साल बाद मिला इंसाफ: पूर्व DGP को सजा

समय की रेत पर बिखरी एक पुरानी दास्तान आखिरकार इंसाफ़ के पैमाने पर पूरी उतरी। गुजरात की एक अदालत ने 41 साल पुराने मामले में पूर्व DGP कुलदीप शर्मा और पूर्व पुलिस इंस्पेक्टर वासवदा को दोषी करार देते हुये तीन महीने की सजा सुनाई है। एक हजार रुपये का जुर्माना भी लगाया गया। इनपर कांग्रेस नेता इब्राहिम मंधारा पर हमला करने और उन्हें बंधक बनाने का इल्जाम था। यह सजा भुज की अतिरिक्त मुख्य न्यायिक मजिस्ट्रेट बीएम प्रजापति की अदालत ने सुनाई। मीडिया रिपोर्ट के अनुसार साल 1984 में गुजरात के कच्छ जिले में माहौल गर्म था। कांग्रेस नेता इब्राहिम मंधारा निर्दोषों को बचाने और असली अपराधियों पर कार्रवाई की मांग लेकर SP दफ्तर पहुंचे थे। उनके साथ विधायकों का एक प्रतिनिधिमंडल भी था। लेकिन बहस तेज़ हुई और माहौल बिगड़ गया। तत्कालीन SP कुलदीप शर्मा, जो बाद में गुजरात के DGP बने, उनपर मंधारा को एक कमरे में ले जाकर मारने-पीटने का इल्जाम लगा था। इसके बाद इब्राहिम मंधारा ने पुलिस अधिकारियों के खिलाफ केस दर्ज कराया। इस बीच मंधारा के परिजनों ने कोर्ट के इस फैसले पर संतोष जताते हुये कहा, ”न्याय मिलने में देरी हुई, पर मिली जरूर। आखिरकार सच की जीत हुई है।”

Congress leader Ibrahim Mandhara had reached the SP office demanding to save the innocent and take action against the real criminals. A delegation of MLAs was also with him. But the debate intensified and the atmosphere deteriorated. The then SP Kuldeep Sharma, who later became the DGP of Gujarat, was accused of taking Mandhara to a room and beating him up. After this, Ibrahim Mandhara filed a case against the police officers. Meanwhile, Mandhara's family expressed satisfaction over the court's decision and said, "Justice was delayed, but it was definitely delivered. Ultimately, truth has prevailed."
